Abstract

Technological advances have always been the causative agents of change in the most diverse fields of activities. The growth is transforming the informational society and the archivist can not be alienated in this process. With the advent of digital documents, and thus the automation of the files, comes the need for archivists to acquire skills and competencies with regard to handling and learning the tools and media access to information. This study aims to discuss the performance of the professional archivist at the scene of the knowledge society. In this reflection, is notable for computer literacy. Mastering the process of literacy is a basic need for archivists. In the final considerations, recommends setting up recommendations that contribute to future discussions on this work in a knowledge society with focus on the impact of technology in shaping the archivist.
