Uma análise do abandono da série The 100

Abstract

Understanding aspects related to consumption is a subject widely debated in consumer behavior research, however, studying consumption abandonment is extremely relevant. In this scenario, the present study aimed to identify the reasons for the abandonment of The 100 series, for that purpose, a case study with an exploratory qualitative approach was carried out, through the case study method. Data collection took place in three ways: interviews; collecting comments on social networks; and, participant observation of the series in question. The collected data were triangulated, and then the content analysis technique was applied (BARDIN, 2011). Among the main findings, we mention the reasons for abandoning the series: i) the death of characters; ii) dissatisfaction with the course of history; iii) dissatisfaction with backstage situations; iv) difficulty in accessing production. It was thus perceived that the conduct of the LGBTQIA+ characters in the series The 100, in which the death of the character Lexa was the factor that most impacted the abandonment of the series by viewers.
