Abstract

This article exposes, from the perspective of permanent value, the importance of primary research sources for institutions’ development. Furthermore, it intends to demonstrate the importance of archivists in maintaining the organic character of that wealth that naturally emerges within institutions – whether as related data that will make up the informational framework or from a more comprehensive and deeper perspective in configuring knowledge. Just as documents organically emerge and contribute for the complex configuration of knowledge, the need also arises to preserve primary sources and respect des fonds from their origin to their final destination, in their different formats and supports, since, as that cycle is maintained, treasures can emerge after readings by different segments of human knowledge.
