Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the scenario of scientific publications on Geographical Indications and Sustainable Development, given the possibility of registering local products and preserving traditional knowledge. To this end, the methodology used was a systematic literature review and bibliometric research corresponding to papers published between 1997 and 2022, collected from the Scopus database, with subsequent data processing using the R package and Bibliometrix. The analysis concluded that Geographical Indication can add value and enable shared management of territorial assets, with environmental benefits, cultural preservation, involvement of local players and biodiversity conservation. In addition, the interdisciplinary nature of the subject was noted, with an increase in annual publications, and its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.
