THE MANAGEMENT OF THE ARCHIVISTIC INFORMATION ON QUALITY SYSTEMS INTRODUCTION

Abstract

In the current competitive scenery, the companies have started more and more adopting the principles and techniques on management for the quality as a way of continuously improving their administrative practices and, consequently, their products, in order to attract and to keep the customers. Within such context, the management of information appears to allow the control and the fast access to the relevant organizational information, providing, thus, the optimization of the processes and activities as well as a better making of decisions, contributing in a determinant way with the companies’ search for the excellence in their products. The present paper aims at verifying whether the organizations are already aware about the benefits offered by the informational management by introducing it during the processes of achievement and maintenance of the quality. The entities of the city of Santa Maria, attested by the Gaucho Program on Quality and Productivity (PGQP) in the years of 2005 and 2006, have been visited and they answered to a questionnaire with the objective of identifying their informational situation. In spite of the organizations being already aware about the importance of the management of information for quality, it is concluded to still occur without the acting of the information professionals – the archivists – and, therefore, without the adoption of the archivistic principles, methods, and instruments.
