Abstract

Abstract: This article sought to understand how domestic violence is felt and perceived by women who have suffered from it, the ways in which they subjectively experience the process of institutional support by the Public Defender of the Federal District (DPDF), explain the efficiency of institutional strategies – in a way that women who actively experience violence can take a stand against it – and also develop new professional practice strategies aimed at the subjective development of the women assisted by the DPDF. For that, qualitative research was used as a methodology in the light of the theory of subjectivity, a lens that allowed reading and seeking to understand how subjective processes can lead to the maintenance of permissibility, fragility, dependence and fear, which are configured in the context of each woman. The constructive-interpretative tools guide the construction of unique subjective processes, allowing the professional to bring the aforementioned theoretical framework to practical interventions and, also, within an institutional context. Thus, it can be said that non-standard subjective meanings emerge with regard to domestic violence, with respect to all the uniqueness involved, on the part of each one assisted by the DPDF.
