The objective of the article is to analyze the actions promoted by the Association of Residents of the Metropolitan Neighborhood of Ribeirão das Neves (ASMOBAM) for the community, in order to identify whether the organization can be characterized as a solidarity organization, the type of management applied in the organization and whether deliberative democracy contributes to the management process of the association and with the residents of the neighborhood. The research presents as method the case study, using triangulation (interview, documentary research and participant observation) for data collection and content analysis to treat the data. The analysis showed that ASMOBAM is characterized as a solidarity organization, and presents traces of social management and deliberative democracy. However, to consolidate the solidarity aspects and social management in the association and provide greater benefits to the community, it is necessary that the neighborhood residents have active participation, and in its process the search for understanding, consensus and emancipation of individuals is promoted, and as observed this does not occur in ASMOBAM, since, in general, the neighborhood residents are absent and show lack of interest in the association's activities, in addition to its managers have no interest in putting into practice effective actions to change this scenario.
