The last decade was marked by different types of mobilization of theoretical-methodological arsenals in the context of studies on social activism and protest cycles in Brazil and worldwide, through the Analysis of Protest Events (AEP). Seeking to contribute to this aspect, the objective is to analyze the characteristics of the protests carried out and the perception of the media on the performance of social and union movements in Rio Grande do Norte between 2013 and 2029. For this purpose, the analysis is based on a database about protests built from reports published in two local media. In the end, it was possible to observe that, as of 2013, but especially in the more recent period, protests have become more recurrent, reducing the initial estrangement explained through the language usually used in journalistic texts. In addition, four cycles of protests were formed in Rio Grande do Norte, namely: Social and Labor Policies; Urban Order; Countryside life; and Dilma Rousseff's Impeachment Campaign.
