THE COMPLEMENT OF CONSIDERAR AS A SPECIFICATIONAL STRUCTURE

In this article, we investigate, in Brazilian Portuguese, the internal complement of the verb considerar (consider) when composed by DPs in inverse order and the simple copulative sentence classified as specificational. We aimed to confront such syntactic environments regarding their lexicalization and reading, with the purpose of knowing whether the internal complement of considerar is also a specificational structure, which, through the mentioned parameters, we concluded affirmatively. We found that the compositional possibilities and restrictions of one are also verified in the other, that the DPs of both are referentially asymmetric, distributed in the non-referential - referential order, and occur under an identificational context, marked, respectively, for presupposition - focus.
