A RECATEGORIZAÇÃO DE REFERENTES NUMA PERSPECTIVA COGNITIVO-DISCURSIVA | THE RECATEGORIZATION OF REFERENTS ON A COGNITIVE–DISCURSIVE PERSPECTIVE

Resumo

Neste trabalho, investigamos a construção de sentidos de textos multimodais, focalizando o processo de recategorização numa perspectiva cognitivo-discursiva, conforme proposição de Lima (2009). Para tanto, analisamos três charges que tematizam as eleições presidenciais de 2014 no Brasil. Os resultados apontam para a produtividade do processo referencial investigado como mecanismo deflagrador da construção dos sentidos cômico e irônico das charges. Tal papel fica mais evidenciado pela identificação das metáforas conceituais multimodais que instanciam as ocorrências de recategorizações metafóricas constituintes das charges, configuradas por um processo que mescla as semioses verbal e imagética.

Abstract: In this work, we investigate the construction of the meanings of multimodal texts by focusing on the process of recategorization based on a cognitive-discursive perspective, according to Lima (2009) For that, we analyze three charges related to the 2014 presidential election in Brazil. The results point to the productivity of the referring process investigated as the mechanism that causes the constructions of comic and ironic meanings of the charges. This role is much more evidenced by the identification of conceptual multimodal metaphors that instantiate the occurrences of metaphoric recategorization that constitute the charges since they are configured in a process that mixes both verbal and imagery semiosis.
