IDENTIDADE, TERRITORIALIDADE E ECOLOGISMO: O CASO DA LAGOA DO ABAETÉ

Resumo

Este texto trata do potencial de mobilização social do ecologismo, de uma perspectiva de análise que acentua o papel das representações simbólicas dos atores envolvidos. A cidade de Salvador, e mais precisamente, a lagoa do Abaeté, no bairro de Itapuã, são nosso campo de observação. A partir de 1984, o valor histórico, cultural e de patrimônio natural fazem deste local um caso concreto de ação ambientalista. Analisase, aqui, esta ação coletiva, apoiando-se na categoria central de territorialidade.

This text treats the potential for the social mobilization of ecological movements from an analytical perspective that accentuates the role of the symbolic representation of the actors involved. The city of Salvador, or more precisely, the Lagoa do Abaeté (Abaeté Lake) in Itapoã, is the observed site. The historical and cultural value and the natural attributes of this location have made it a concrete case of environment action since 1984. The analysis of this collective action supports the central category of territoriality.
