SOBRE A EXCLUSÃO: ALGUNS DESAFIOS CONTEMPORÂNEOS

Resumo

Este artigo objetiva abrir um debate em torno dos desafios colocados pelo fenômeno da exclusão contemporânea, instigando uma reflexão sistemática sobre o tema. As questões priorizadas são: a pertinência dos termos apartação e exclusão e suas manifestações históricas; a relação entre mercado, integração e exclusão; o descompasso crescente na atualidade entre o universo político e o econômico; e, finalmente, a caracterização de uma exclusão contemporânea, específica. Sugerimos que uma reflexão ampla sobre a exclusão pressupõe relacioná-la aos temas da mundialização, das transformações no mundo do trabalho e da democracia.

EXCLUSION: Some Contemporary Questions

This article aims to open up a debate turning upon the questions presented by the phenomenon of contemporary exclusion, leading to a systematic analysis of the theme. The principal questions are: the pertinence of the terms "separation" and "exclusion" and their historical manifestations; the relationship between market, integration and exclusion; the currently increasing discrepancy between the political and economic universes (a stepping out of line of one with the other); and, finally, the characterization of a specific contemporary exclusion. We suggest that a thorough analysis of exclusion presupposes relating it to the themes of mondialization, transformations in the world of work, and democracy.
