PAULO DA PORTELA, UM HERÓI CIVILIZADOR

Resumo

O presente artigo retoma a biografia de Paulo Benjamin de Oliveira, o Paulo da Portela, um dos nomes cujo pionerismo inscreve-se nas história e lenda do samba carioca, de acordo com o objetivo de compreender o significado pertinente às táticas e mesmo estratégias de distinção e individuação implementadas nas ações sociais de sujeitos estigmatizados etnicamente. É observado as saídas criativas desses agentes quando fulcradas no campo do entretenimento. Aí onde suas condutas são orientadas por um sentido de especialização das atividades baseadas em habilidades culturais-artísticas. Sentido este com decisiva contribuição nas mudanças do perfil da inserção desses mesmos indivíduos no concerto societário, embora reconhecendo que a consciência prática deles respondia em parte aos limites estruturais da sociedade abrangente.

The present article resumes Paulo Benjamin de Oliveira’s biography. Paulo da Portela is one of those names whose pioneering ideas are written in the history and legend of the samba from Rio de Janeiro, having in mind the understanding of the pertinent meaning of tactics and strategies for distinction and individualization, implemented in the social actions to subjects ethnically stigmatized. The creative flow of these agents is observed as they are supported by entertainment area, where their behaviors are oriented by a sense of specialization of activities focusing on cultural-artistic skills. This meaning has a decisive contribution to the changes of profile for inserting these same people in the society, although it recognizes that their practical awareness reacted in part to the structural limits of the encompassing society
