Memorial - um sistema em definição

Abstract

This study highlights the need for the existence of theoretical and methodological criteria for the implementation of a memorial from a hybrid institution, that is, composed of archives, library and museum documents, without, however, being
understood in the same plan of knowledge and technical. According to the authors Pierre Nora and Jacques Le Goff, institutions dedicated to dealing with issues related to memory, storage and preservation of documents and artifacts are called
“places of memory” or “memory institutions”, which comprise archives, libraries, museums and other places of documentary records, considering these concepts as spaces where memory finds shelter. With the advancement of the areas of information science and information and communication technology, the institutions begin to gather documentation of varied nature, gender, format, species and typology to compose collections with greater coverage. Hence the need for in-depth studies on the relationship between memory, document and information. In the midst of these transformations, the documentation center appears, among other institutions, this fact leads to complex and quite controversial discussions, particularly in view of the
conceptual scope of what is meant by memorial. Therefore, this research, through the literature review, proposes to analyze institutions that have, in their composition, the memorial format. This study considers the design and implementation of
the memorial from the perspective of systemic theory according to Niklas Luhmann and Armando Malheiro da Silva and brings an analysis of the interrelationship between archival, library and museum documents in a memorial.
