Abstract

The work presented is the result of four years (2012-2016) of the doctoral research at the Federal University of Paraná, in the Graduate Program in Geography. We bring the analysis of symbolic conformation of produced space in the relationship between two cultural worlds, hip-hop and religion. This meeting takes place through the action of young rappers who participated in a meeting known as “Célula da Rima” in the Evangelical Community Sara Nossa Terra, in Curitiba / PR. To understand the symbolic space we chose to approach the “symbolic forms” created by the neokantian philosopher Ernst Cassirer. The survey results show that the spatial perception of these young rappers are more guided on symbolic than on a material basis. When young people talk of town, suburbs, street and Church are not only physical spaces to which they refer, are, above all, imagination buildings, experience and emotions.
