Biographie de l'auteur

Andrea Pagnes, VestAndPageVenice International Performance Art Week

Andrea Pagnes and Verena Stenke have been working together since 2006 as VestAndPage and gain international recognition creating live performances cycles,  collective performance operas, performance-based films, visuals, theoretical and creative writings and temporary artistic community projects. Their art practice is contextual, conceived psycho-geographically in response to social situations, natural surroundings, historical sites, architectures and urban ruins. They explore themes such as pain sublimation, suffering, fragility, risk-taking, trust in change, union and endurance with an original bodily approach to art practice to merge from reality poetic elements as a rebellion against the exercise of power and discrimination among human beings. VestAndPage are the curators and conceivers of the live art exhibition project “Venice International Performance Art Week” and its co-creation educational learning program since its inception (2011). They are lecturers at ArtEZ University (NL). Their movie “Plantain” won the best film award at the Berlin Independent Film Festival (2018). They are currently in production of STRATA, performance-based feature film on Deep Time, and momentum, a series of videos, in which they host conversations under existential focus with inspiring people from the arts, culture and science. They are developing 1 9 Monologue, an autobiographical performance monologue about the home of pathogens in the primate body on the example of pulmonary tuberculosis. These last projects have been funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media of Germany. Pagnes’s last book “Notes from Isolation” will be published on December 2021 in collaboration with LADA (Live Art Development Agency, UK). Before working as VestAndPage, Pagnes participated at the Venice Biennale in 1997 and received the Windsor&Newton Millennium Painting Award (2000) and Robert-Schuman-Silver Medal for European Unity (1990).
