Abstract

The work performs an anthropology of the body and emotions about the short story Delicado by Nelson Rodrigues. The articulation between literature and anthropology can be an interesting way of problematizing the way homophobia is socially managed. Despite the tale being set in the 1950s, the stereotypes present in the characters help to think about many current issues in our culture. The analytical tools are anchored in the anthropology of the body and emotions along with the discussions of the work Male Domination by Pierre Bourdieu. The loss of virility is conceived as the main trigger for the emergence of homophobic discourses. The investigation of this microphysics produced by the literature can help to understand how homophobia circulates both in public and private spaces.
