Abstract

In this text, I seek to raise some initial questions about a new film culture that has been developing in Brazil. Understanding film culture as all the processes that generate films, exhibit, select, criticize and teach cinema. I start from the ideas of implicated cinema, by Matheus Araujo dos Santos, and new cinephilia, by Girish Shambu, in a dialogue with authors who have thought about other processes and relationships, but who seek strategies for the recognition and dismantling or subversion of racist and cisheteronormative colonial power structures. I then comment on the curatorial paths chosen at the Mostra Ifé, held online in April 2021.
