Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to draw a historical route about how the process of medicalization of childbirth occurs and in what way it provides a backdrop to violent practices, these ones often disguised as routines, specifically when it comes to black women. Thus, the proposal is to understand obstetric violence and how it materializes, through the abusive medicalization of childbirth and intensifies 'intersected' with issues of gender, race and class. To this end, bibliographic and documental research were undertaken, based on a qualitative approach. In view of the above, it is observed that the medicalization of childbirth and obstetric violence affect black women in a particular way.
