This article aims to present and discuss improvisation in Afrodiasporic games that developed as self-defense and/or as performative practices since the end of the 19th century. After presenting and delimiting the field investigated from Performance Studies (SCHECHNER, 2006) and specific literature on games that are experienced in and through the body, I present reflections on improvisational modes in Capoeira games in Brazil and in the art of Esgrima de Machete y Bordón in Colombia, from a “motrizes culturais” (LIGIÉRO, 2019) investigated in these two games: malice. The analysis privileges also the game states (SCHECHNER, 2006), showing how these states build corporeities woven directly in the relationship with the Afrodiasporic territories that they are inserted into. In face of the expressive interface between Western Scenic Dance and Eastern Martiality that have marked the history of Dance, the question that drives the writing of this article is: What can the field of dance improvisation learn from Afrodiasporic corporeities and their cultural performances?
