The bioactive compounds of the Sterculia genus exhibit numerous activities, including medicinal properties. Notable species within this genus include Sterculia foetida, Sterculia urens, and Sterculia striata. The objective of this study is to prospect articles and patents on the biological activity of Sterculia bioactives from 2013-2023, utilizing the ScienceDirect, Scielo, and PubMed databases; INPI, Espacenet, and WIPO, respectively. The prospection revealed India as the primary contributor of articles, with China emerging as the leading patent holder. PubMed and ScienceDirect databases featured predominantly health-related publications, owing to the widespread utilization of Sterculia bioactives in disease treatment, attributed to their well-documented antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. The Scielo platform indicated publications primarily focused on agronomy. An escalating utilization of Sterculia bioactives underscores their potential for fostering novel therapeutic interventions and agricultural products. This progress highlights China's prominence in investments on research and development.
