Abstract

The goal of this research was to conduct a technological forecasting about the use of sugarcane bagasse and its derivatives for the selective adsorption of sulfur compounds in diesel fuel. The research was based on the analysis of scientific documents from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, as well as the identification of patent applications using the Questel Orbit Intelligence® tool. The results indicated that sugarcane bagasse derivatives are promising adsorbents and can be applied in the removal of several chemical compounds, mainly present in wastewater. However, the use in fuel treatment is not a widely developed application.
