Abstract

Cannabis sativa produces a variety of secondary metabolites with potential pharmacological uses, such as antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. In addition, products derived from this plant are commonly used as ingredients in cosmetics. This article aims to conduct an analysis of patents related to cosmetics based on Cannabis sativa, seeking to identify the main trends and innovations in this area. Searches were conducted in databases such as WIPO, INPI, USPTO and Espacenet, using terms such as "Cannabis sativa", "cosmetic industry", "cosmetic" and "personal care products". Thirty-three patents related to cosmetic formulations for skin, hair, makeup and nail care were identified. China was the country with the highest number of patents filed (45%). These patents demonstrate the potential of Cannabis Cannabis sativa as an active ingredient in cosmetics, offering new product possibilities to the market.
