Abstract

Many organizations have adhered to ESG (acronym for Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria to demonstrate added value to their business, related to good governance, environmental improvement and transparency. This article aims to analyze initiatives of absorption, engagement and adherence to ESG practices by the Buildings sub-sector of the Civil Construction Industry. The methodology is based on systematic literature review and patentometry, with 29 publications and 13 patents selected from specifics databases. The results show that the sector concentrates initiatives in the environmental dimension, without demonstrating effective mitigation of impacts, since they are limited to meeting regulatory compliance requirements; it has little interest in investing in the social dimension, because the payback time is long; and, in the governance dimension, the adoption of higher standards in the planning of projects can contribute to a lower degree of corruption and advances.
