Abstract

A pressure injury is damage to the skin or underlying tissue caused by excess pressure. This study aimed to map prophylactic technologies in accordance with the International Guideline for the Prevention and Treatment of Pressure Injury. For this, the methodology followed the stages of prospecting and through four databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Questel Orbit) were made searches for documents located between the years 2009 and 2021. Among the scientific bases, 45 articles were selected, through which a predominance of the use of prophylactic dressings was observed. At the Questel Orbit base, 29 patents were selected, where a considerable volume of technologies related to heel suspension was verified. In this study, China was the country that demonstrated the lowest rates of occurrence of the injury, which strengthens the importance of following the recommendations of the guideline.
