Prospecting for Cosmetic Patents with the Presence of S. acmella and Similars from the years 2015 - 2020

S. acmella, a plant rich in spilanthol, is used in a versatile way in cosmetic compositions of multifunctional patents, but mainly with anti-aging action. In a search for cosmetic patents with the presence of Spilanthes acmella and similar species, a prospection was carried out through the Espacenet database. In this systematic review, with the presence of Spilanthes acmella in cosmetic formulations with moisturizing, anti-aging, anti-oil, whitening and toothpaste functions, twenty-six patents were considered suitable for discussion. The country where the largest number of patent filings took place was China, with 61.5% of the total. The creations showed several combinations of extracts and oils that corroborate the growth in the use of natural actives in cosmetics and show a growing trend for the future of the cosmetic sector.
