Technological Prospection on Biomarkers Related to Diagnosis of Psychiatric Diseases

Abstract

Mental disorders are a disease that has psychological characteristics associated with functional impairment resulting from biopsychosocial dysfunction. Methods of detection using biomarkers that allow and generate rapid, safe and reproducible results are needed to assist health professionals in the evaluation and monitoring of psychiatric illness. We included patent descriptions that addressed the development of a biomarker applied to the diagnosis of psychiatric illnesses, later patents repeated in the same base, patents of Addition and that addressed imaging methods and focusing on neurological diseases were excluded. The survey showed that most of the patent deposits involving technologies for psychiatric comorbidities have increased in recent years mainly since 2012, with the United States as the largest depositor and inventor and with little technological development on the subject in Brazil.
