Abstract

Yoga practices are increasingly being disseminated, both by their tradition, and by the health and wellness benefits that hold this practice. The present work had as objective to carry out a technological prospection of patents referring to the respiratory practices of yoga, denominated pranayamas, using the system Orbit Intelligence, of the Questel. For the prospecting, the keyword "yoga" was used together with the international patent classification "A63B 23/18". The results showed a higher number of patents deposited in the United States and Japan, with technological peaks distributed between 2008 and 2010, especially by Philips, Tanita and Tianjin Yihaoyong. This prospective study contributed to the construction of future scenarios for the market, opportunities and new ideas and demonstrated the ability to develop technologies with several applications in yoga that could be protected through the patent tool.
