Mapping of the Technologies Related to Heat-Transfer by Patentary Documents Deposited in Brazil between 2009 and 2013

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to offer subsidies and reinforce support for decision-making based on relevant facts and concrete evidence on the dynamics of the technological development of technologies related to heat-transfer since it presents a technological mapping through the search of patent documents filed in Brazil between 2009 and 2013, evaluating their evolution. The methodology of the work uses the analysis of deposits of patent applications deposited in the Brazilian patent office in the years 2009 to 2013 of the international patent classification (IPC) equal to “C09K5” - referring to materials for heat transferences. The main sub-group found was the IPC classification “C09K5/04” referring to materials having thermal effect accompanied by a change of the physical state (from liquid to vapor or vice versa). The main form of deposit used is PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty), international deposit. As for the countries of origin, they have a concentrated distribution, with the United States filing 66% of the patent documents of these technologies.

Maria Elisa Marciano Martinez, National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil.

She graduated and holds a master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo; and, has a specialization in Business Administration for Graduates from the Fundação Getúlio Vargas School of Business Administration in São Paulo. She is currently a researcher in industrial property at the National Institute of Industrial Property. He has experience in chemical engineering, with an emphasis on biochemical processes, micro-enterprise management, and industrial property, including mapping and technological prospecting. In addition to working in the patent directorate at the INPI, it carries out scientific dissemination of industrial property based on technological mapping in several areas.

Mauricio da Silva Martins Almeida, National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil.

Graduated in Licentiate in Chemistry from the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (1999), Master in Science and Technology of Polymers from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2002) and PhD in Science and Technology of Polymers from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2006). She is currently a researcher in industrial property at the National Institute of Industrial Property. Has experience in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, with emphasis on Polymers, Applications, working mainly on the following topics: eva, 2-oxazoline, nbr and compatibilization of mixtures.
