Abstract

The objective of this paper is to put in a comparative perspective the real estate markets of two midsized cities. Working with real estate advertisements of lands, from 1995 to 2010, in Ribeirão Preto/SP and Londrina/PR, and other sources of information, this paper seeks to understand some of the contemporary features of production and conditions of consumption of these cities. It takes as reference the redefinition of the production logical of urban space in general and of the cities particularly, comparing characteristics such as the continuity of the urban fabric and the amplification of the dynamics of internal differentiation of the city. From the particularities of housing production, we can observe the redefinition of spatial strategies by the agents and the amplification of its economical power over the practices of production and appropriation of the cities.
