Abstract

Six fundamental properties characterize the spaces of journalistic information in nter- net: hypertextuality, interactivity, multimidiality, personalization, continuous updating and memory. The introduction of smartphones and tablets led to the emergence of a new element that is added to the above characteristics: tactility. Associated primarily to accessibility tools for the visually impaired, tactility has become an essential ele- ment in communication on mobile devices with touch screen. Research in the area of haptic technology opens new perspectives for presentation and consumption of infor- mation. This article discusses general aspects of tactility, as a new characteristic of mobile communication devices to be researched and tested. Some examples of tactility usage are presented, and a preliminary typology is proposed for the different forms of its operation. A description of some applications of haptic interfaces to journalism complements the text.
