Abstract

The concept of event has been central for several communicational studies. Hence the necessity to recognize the importance of narrative event forms, so that it is comprehended and provides comprehension. This article draws on theoretical and methodological potentialities of event concept through pragmatistic and hermeneutic approaches to indicate some ways that event, nowadays, is susceptible to media affections. Narrative mediations entangled in the process of publicizing the event and in the battles of senses are the starting-point of our reflection, which culminates in a discussion on the configuration of events operated by the media. The conciliation of the pragmatistic and hermeneutic perspectives manifests itself fruitful to more detailed examinations of ways of understanding the experience of events through narrative mediation.
