THE FOLKCOMMUNICATIONAL STUDIES IN BRAZIL FROM THE REVISTA INTERNACIONAL DE FOLKCOMUNICAÇÃO: INSTITUTIONAL AND GEOGRAPHIC CARTOGRAPHY

Abstract

The present work is part of the research The Folkcommunication and the contemporary
bibliographic production on media and popular culture: survey and portrait of the 40
first editions of the Revista Internacional de Folkcomunicação, that identifies the mainly
contributions of the folkcommunication studies in Brazil, based on the publications
of the Revista Internacional de Folkcomunicação (RIF) from 2003 to 2020 and carries
out a survey of empirical identification, formats, authorship, regional, theoretical and
methodological identification of the magazine. This text focuses on the institutional
(university education) and geographic location (region of Brazil or country) of the authors
– at the time of production for the magazine – who published in the firsts 40
magazine’s edition. The research checked all the 467 available works. The study provides
an actualized overview of the last two decades of folkcommunication in Brazil.
The northeast region stands out in scientific production. The south region stands out in
technics production. It’s been proved that there is a low presence of authors from the
Midwest and North. The attention is drawn to the small presence of researchers that
aren’t Brazilian in the RIF.
