Abstract

The article presents the results of the research project SCIENCE IN BRAZIL: A study of the coverage of the Magazine Scientific American Brasil. It is about a research with qualitative emphasis, despite quantitative elements have been considered when relevant for the proposed analysis. The boarding of the science developed in Brazil was objectified to verify which one has prominence in this publication. The magazine has contributed for the scientific spreading in the country, even though it restricts to a public directed towards science, fulfilling a reading contract between the publishing proposal of the vehicle and its reading public. The speech of scientific spreading is constructed with rigidity and strongly specialized language, making difficult the access to the information for a more general public.
