Abstract

The Watermelon Woman (1996), Cheryl Dunye, é um modelo híbrido de ficção/documentário. A dupla encenação vai da busca de uma atriz negra do cinema mudo ao cotidiano da própria diretora/personagem. Uma associação entre forma e conteúdo permite igualar-se à representação da personagem o deslocamento dos gêneros cinematográficos, tornando o filme uma performance queer, em que a história sobre a vida da mulher-melancia e a realidade de Cheryl se mesclam, dando visibilidade à mulher negra e lésbica./The Watermelon Woman (1996), Cheryl Dunye, is a hybrid movie that is between fiction and documentary model. The double performance goes from the search of a black actress of the silent cinema period to the daily life of the director / character. An association between form and content allows the representation of the character to be equated with the displacement of the cinematographic genres, making the film a queer performance, in which the story about the life of the watermelon woman and the reality of Cheryl merge, giving visibility to the woman black and lesbian.

Doutoranda no programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação na Universidade Anhembi Morumbi. Mestre e graduada em Comunicação pela Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora./PhD student from Anhembi Morumbi University. Graduation at Social Communication from Federal University of Juiz de Fora (2009) and master at Social Communication from Federal University of Juiz de Fora.

Maria Bernadette Cunha de Lyra, Universidade Anhembi Morumbi

Possui graduação em Letras pela Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo/ UFES (1972), mestrado em Comunicação pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro/ UFRJ (1981) e doutorado em Artes/Cinema pela Universidade de São Paulo/ USP(1988). Tem pós-doutorado na Université René Descartes/ Sorbonne (Paris V ). Atualmente é Professora Emérita da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo e Professora Titular do PPGCom em Comunicação da Universidade Anhembi Morumbi, Programa de Pós-Graduação de que foi Coordenadora (2006/2010). /Graduate at Letras from Federal University of Espírito Santo (1972), master's at Communication from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1981), ph.d. at Cinema from University of São Paulo (1988) and postdoctorate from University Paris-Sorbonne (1989).

Maria Ignês Carlos Magno, Universidade Anhembi Morumbi

Graduação em História pela Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras das Faculdades Associadas do Ipiranga (1974), mestrado em História Cultural pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1992) e doutorado em Ciências da Comunicação pela Universidade de São Paulo (1999). Atualmente é Professora permanente do PPGCOM em Comunicação Audiovisual da Universidade Anhembi Morumbi. Pós-doutorado junto a ESPM/SP. Graduated in History from the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of the Associated Faculties of Ipiranga (1974), Masters in Cultural History from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (1992) and PhD in Communication Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1999). She is currently a permanent professor at PPGCOM in Audiovisual Communication at Anhembi Morumbi University. Post-doctorate with ESPM / SP.
