As origens do crime ritual e as dinâmicas da difusão de uma narrativa acusatória contra os judeus no século XII

O debate em torno das origens da acusação de crime ritual contra os judeus é pautado, sobre tudo, a partir do assassinato do menino chamado Guilherme de Norwich (1144) e seu posterior culto local. Graças ao monge Tomás de Monmouth, há uma densa narrativa hagiográfica que não buscava apenas ser uma enumeração dos milagres do menino “mártir”, mas também uma argumentação contra os céticos da santidade e do martírio de Guilherme. Essa narrativa, desde o século XIX, é vista como o principal indicio para o surgimento da lenda de crime ritual, no qual o monge Tomás seria o principal articulador e criador. Neste presente artigo busca-se problematizar pontos abordados por historiadores que ora eram favoráveis à identificação de uma origem a partir do assassinato de Guilherme, ora tomavam uma posição cética sobre uma efetiva percepção de um surgimento para essa lenda. Em suma, presume-se que - a partir de diversos indícios não só deixados pelo monge Tomás, mas também por outros documentos - seja possível creditar, ao caso de Norwich (1144), o posto de primeira acusação de crime ritual direcionada aos judeus.
