Race Does Not Exist
University Professors' Narratives on Gender, Race, and Sexuality

The Brazilian society, marked by a colonial past that still resonates in the present, regards the formative environment as one of the spaces for reproducing the Eurocentric universalist mindset. However, it can also be a place for tensioning power relations structured by racism and sexism. For this to occur, both initial and continued education must address these issues in an ethical and in-depth manner. In this sense, the present study presents and problematizes the understandings of two university professors on race, sexuality, and gender in the Pedagogy course. The methodology employed consisted of a qualitative approach to analyze semi-structured interviews with four professors. In this text, the narratives of two university professors from the Pedagogy course offered by the State University of Paraná are presented. The theoretical framework for the discussion and analysis of the data produced from the interviews was based on the perspective of gender studies and racial relations, under an intersectional lens.
