Abstract

Em 1998 houve em Buenos Aires um acontecimento singular: com a sanção do Código de Convivência Urbana em março deste ano, após a autonomização da Cidade de Buenos Aires, o trabalho sexual foi despenalizado. Tal evento produziu uma intensa luta por direitos e pela definição da cidadania deste “novo” espaço urbano, dando lugar a uma polêmica que segue ainda vigente. A trajetória do polêmico artigo 71 do Código de Convivência (que logo se tornou o 89 e finalmente o 81), referente à nova regulação do trabalho sexual, pode ser lida como o caminho percorrido pelo desejo das leis porteñas de constranger, apartar, delimitar, mas também de cercar, preencher, dizer, em última análise, de apreender e dar forma à dinâmica na qual uma cidade põe a circular o desejo e o sexo no seu espaço urbano em um momento dado em sua história.
