Call for papers: Dissident Territorialities and Urban Narratives

2022-02-08

The purpose of this dossier is to bring together researchers and people interested in understanding the interfaces between space and expressions of genders and dissident sexualities, emphasizing visibility and the act of appearing in public as a fundamental presupposition for the (de)construction of discourses around the body, its subjectivities and its territorialities in the urban space. We are interested in observing the many configurations of gender and sexuality and their transits, with the spaces involved in the performative action of transitory identities that destabilize social norms and regimes of visibility.

In this dossier, we are interested in gathering works that discuss territories and urbanities that are established by the conflicts that derive from the different ways of being and being of subjects in the city, those that deviate from the vertical rules of the urban game through the exercise of their presence and composition. of their creative corporeities, strange and often read and assumed as monstrous, as they are outside social standards and contrary to the intended homogenizing and ennobling pacifications of the city. With this call, we add interdisciplinary investigations that discuss the policies of the body and urban daily life, understanding the “right to appear in public” (BUTLER, 2018) as a basic premise, and so often denied, of the “right to the city” (LEFEBVRE, 2018). 1968) of sexually deviant subjects from heterosexual and binary gender normativity.

The field of interest of this dossier also comprises works that produce dialogues between different disciplines and expose investigative methodological processes around the body and space and the different possible forms and languages in the production of urban narratives that make dissident bodies and their multiple ways of expressing themselves appear. create territories and other ways of living the city.
