Abstract

This study builds relationships between fields of study of dance and visual culture todiscuss relations between body and image. Focusing on the Vogue dance created in thecontext of ball culture and recreated by pop singer Madonna, this study reflects on theimage as artifact, idea and action of the body. This reflection approaches the concept ofbodymedia for challenging visions of the body, dance, art and processes of teaching andcreating dance.
