O LÉXICO TOPONÍMICO DE ORIGEM AFRICANA NO RECÔNCAVO DA BAHIA: UMA ANÁLISE SEMÂNTICO-LEXICAL | THE TOPONYMIC LEXICON OF AFRICAN ORIGIN IN THE BAHIA RECONCAVO: A SEMANTIC-LEXICAL ANALYSIS

Resumo

Resumo: Este artigo apresenta um estudo sobre a microtoponímia de origem africana dos vinte municípios que compõem o Território de Identidade do Recôncavo baiano (SEI, 2010), especificamente, os nomes dos povoados dessa região. Foram analisados 62 topônimos, os quais foram coletados dos mapas municipais estatísticos, escala 1:100.000, disponíveis na plataforma virtual do IBGE. O tratamento aplicado às informações obtidas seguem uma metodologia toponímica já existente nessa área, correspondente a um estudo etimológico dos termos que compõem o sintagma toponímico, buscando suas motivações semânticas ─ característica principal desses signos ─ encaixando-os em uma taxionomia desenvolvida por Dick (1990a, 1990b).

Abstract: This article presents a study on the microtoponymy of African origin of the twenty municipalities that compose the Identity Territory of the Bahian Recôncavo (SEI, 2010), specific, the names of village of the region. Were analyzed 62 toponyms, which were collected from the municipal statistical maps, scale 1: 100,000, available on the IBGE virtual platform. The treatment applied to the information obtained follows a toponymic methodology already existing in this area, corresponding to an etymological study of the terms that make up the toponymic phrase, seeking its semantic motivations ─ main characteristic of these signs ─ following from the insertion in a taxonomy developed by Dick (1990a, 1990b).
