ESCRITORAS NORDESTINAS DO SÉCULO XIX: RESGATE E HISTÓRIA | 19th CENTURY NORTHEASTERN WOMEN WRITERS: RESCUE AND HISTORY

Resumo

Resumo: Durante alguns anos, nas décadas de 1980 e 1990, um grupo de pesquisadoras – sob a coordenação de Zahidé Muzart – partilhou o sonho-projeto de resgatar a vida e obra de antigas escritoras e, assim, contribuir para o estabelecimento de uma tradição literária feminina em nosso país. O trabalho – que permitiu a descoberta de valiosos manuscritos, primeiras edições e de informações inéditas sobre a participação da mulher nas letras nacionais – encontra-se hoje publicado em três volumes pela Editora Mulheres, de Florianópolis. Pretendo, neste momento, lembrar algumas das escritoras nordestinas resgatadas na pesquisa, como Nísia Floresta, Maria Firmina dos Reis, Emília Freitas, Francisca Clotilde e Auta de Souza, entre outras, para refletir sobre a hegemonia do cânone e de como a sua desconstrução é um desafio permanente ao futuro dos estudos literários no Brasil.

Abstract: For a number of years, in the 1980s and 1990s, a group of researchers – under the coordination of Zahidé Muzart – shared the dream – project of rescuing the life and work of former women writers and thus contributing to the establishment of a women’s writing literary tradition in our country. The work – which allowed the discovery of valuable manuscripts, first editions and unpublished information on women's participation in the national literary art – is now published in three volumes by Editora Mulheres, Florianópolis. I would like, at this moment, to recall some of the Northeastern female writers rescued in the aforementioned research, such as Nísia Floresta, Maria Firmina dos Reis, Emília Freitas, Francisca Clotilde and Auta de Souza, among others, to reflect on the hegemony of the canon and how its deconstruction is a permanent challenge to the future of literary studies in Brazil.
