The media and the construction of meanings of events for social life. This is the perspective of this article, which aims to analyze how the journalistic narratives of the “Series Petróleo na Amazônia”, from a national portal, address the ethical-political relationship regarding the development model of/in the Amazon, since this goes beyond the opposition between nature preservation and development. Based on the pragmatic analysis of the journalistic narrative, with Ricoeurian reflections on the unfolding of mimesis I, II and III, we analyzed the five reports made by the CNN Brasil portal, published between December 18 and 22, 2023. The results point to an amplification of the false paradox between the preservation of the Amazon and the development of Brazil. A paradox that prevents us from thinking about another development model for the Region which, next year, 2025, will host one of the most important environmental events on the planet, Conference of the Parties (COP), an annual conference that aims to prevent harmful human interventions in the global climate system.
