Abstract

ABSTRACT. Isotopic composition aspects of Itaparica Island groundwater, Bahia, Brazil. Itaparica island is the greater of the islands of Todos Santos the Bay, Bahia, Brazil. This divided in two cities: Itaparica and Vera Cruz that together possess over 246 km2 total area and 55,000 inhabitants. The climate of the region is had as tropical humid with hot summer and rains, the temperature varies between 20°C and 34°C. Water-bearing the porous one contains characterized as mixing, bicarbonate waters, Ca-rich waters, bicarbonate, Na-rich waters and chloride-rich waters. The isotopics analyses of δD and δ18O of these waters it did not demonstrate significant variation isotopic fractionation, they are locate over the field of the SMOW on the straight line of meteoric waters and prove low residence in the aquifer.
