A CLASSICAL PROBLEM IN POLITICAL LIBERALISM

Abstract

John Locke’s works had a profound influence in contemporary political liberalism. Nonetheless some aspects of his work challenges the contemporary understanding in regard to rule of law. A review of Locke’s approach towards the royal prerogatives may provide a new way of thinking about the legacy of the classic liberal tradition and it’s contradictions within modern constitutionalism.
