Abstract

Sludge from Sewage Treatment Plants (TEEs) is considered a promising medium for the generation and use of biogas. Anaerobic treatment is widely applied as a biological treatment step for domestic wastewater. The high efficiency of degradation of organic matter in this type of process and the lower production of residual sludge are some of the main advantages that have promoted the increasing use of this process. The general objective of the present work is the identification of the technologies used for the anaerobic treatment of sludge with focus on energy production. For that, bibliometric nd patentometric techniques are used, using as tools VOSviewer® and Questel Orbit® software. After analyzing the maps and graphs generated, it is concluded that it is efficient to make a recent exploratory study of the scientific and technological evolution on biogas, directing new studies and production of new patents, involving, for example, the following IPC codes C12M-001/107, C12P-005/02 and C12M-001/02.
