Abstract

Internationalization at UFBA: strategies for insertion in global education

Abstract

This article aims to identify and analyze, within the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), the actions and policies of internationalization aimed at the university’s insertion in the context of global education. The text intends to demonstrate how UFBA has historically carried out actions in order to signify itself as an institution that walks in the perspective of integration between a university and knowledge production through internationalization. For this, a historical report of these actions at the University from its foundation to the current moment will be presented, with the approval of its Internationalization Plan in 2018. The analysis is based on the review of the policies adopted by Brazilian governments to promote university internationalization up until the creation of the Science without Borders Program (PCsF) and Capes Print, in which UFBA was and is a participant, situating these significant, strategic actions for the insertion of Brazilian Federal Institutions of Higher Education in the international academic scene. This will certainly include the greatest challenge presented by the internationalization of scholars: language proficiency. As for the objectives, it is a descriptive research project with a qualitative approach and based on the review of literature, contained in corresponding references and principally in the information contained   in  their  institucional evelopment plans.
