Abstract

Objective: to analyze the scientific evidence regarding the use of aromatherapy in reducing stress-related symptoms in the Nursing team. Method: integrative literature review carried out among the information resources Virtual Health Library, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, EMBASE, Pubmed, SCOPUS. The quality certification of the included studies met the criteria proposed by the Joanna Briggs Institute. Results: twelve studies were included in the review. There was a predominance of randomized clinical trials and quasi-experimental studies, totaling a sample of 622 participants. Inhalation aromatherapy with the essential oil of Lavandula angustifolia stood out. The use of a control group and multiple measurements of outcomes were the criteria that showed the greatest weakness among the analyzed studies. Conclusion: aromatherapy demonstrated effectiveness and safety in reducing stress symptoms for the Nursing team. The essential oil of Lavandula angustifolia continues to be the most explored, as well as the inhalation route.
