Abstract

Objective: to identify the understanding of professionals in a CAPS about interprofessional work for the care of people in mental suffering. Method: a qualitative descriptive exploratory study, carried out from July to September 2020, based on the principles of Institutional Analysis. The data produced were analyzed by thematic content analysis. Results: It was observed the distancing of professionals from the concepts related to interprofessionality, which materializes and evidences a fragmented practice, without discussion and articulation of actions. Professionals point to the case study as a powerful space for the introduction of interprofessional work, as it is an opportunity for collaborative work, and when its concepts are presented and discussed, there is the beginning of an instituting process of recognition of this way of working. Conclusion: Professionals have a distant understanding of the concepts with in-service practice, favoring fragmented work. The least approximation with the fundamentals of interprofessionalism is capable of provoking reflections on the way of working, however, it is not enough for interprofessional work to become something established in CAPS.
