Abstract

We evaluated the intake, digestibility of nutrients and performance of Guzerá cattle finished in feedlot as the use of commercial product Proenzyme® - produced by the Brazilian Increasing Livestock Productivity - EMBRAUPEC (Paranavaí, PR, Brazil) - containing probiotic (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Streptococcus faecium, Bifidobacterium thermophilum, Bifidobacterium longum), digestive enzymes (amylase, cellulase, protease, lipase and pectinase) and minerals (zinc) in food and different levels of concentrate. It were used 36 castrated males, mean age 30 ± 2 months and live weight of 391.0 ± 15.85kg, confined for 102 days. The design was completely randomized, with treatments distributed in a factorial (3x2), whose forage concentrate diet were 60:40, 70:30 and 80:20, based on dry matter and presence or not of Proenzyme® at a dose of 6g/animal/day (recommended by the manufacturer). The parameters analyzed were weight gain total, dry matter intake by percentage of body weight and metabolic weight, carcass dressing and feed conversion. The supply of the product in the concentrate did not show improvement in all evaluated parameters. As the levels of concentrate, except for carcass dressing and feed conversion, the other parameters responded significantly to its increase. The results indicated that the performance was obtained due to the increase of concentrate in the diet and not to presence of the Proenzyme ®. In the evaluation of the coefficients of digestibility determined by in vitro and in situ methods, we found very similar results.
